The ScaleMate is as the name implies mates or pairs with the RoboCrib to provide even more flexibility and inventory accuracy for small parts or bench stock and the ScaleMate allows for even higher inventory density in the same footprint. The ScaleMate has a load cell or scale that weighs screws, washers, nuts, bolts or other small parts to eliminate counting by hand while at the same time keeping inventory quantities precise.
Let’s look at each one of these capabilities separately. Many inserts, drill bits or other tools are very small, meaning that we could theoretically put multiple tools in a single bin, thus increasing our inventory density and freeing up bins for more different kinds of items. But putting multiple items in a single bin means that we don’t know how many were taken by a given operator. The solution is to combine the RoboCrib with pie shaped parts cups to hold multiple machine tools with the ScaleMate which uses a scale to weigh them. The operator simply takes the tools they need, and puts the parts cup on the scale. The ScaleMate weighs the remaining balance and knows exactly how many were taken and decrements inventory.
It works exactly the same for washers, nuts, bolts and other small parts. The operator can count what they need or simply grab a handful, and the ScaleMate will calculate exactly how many were taken, keeping inventory accurate, preventing stock-outs and making it easy and fast for employees on the shop floor.
